JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo delivered his speech in the context of the 76th Indonesian Independence Day at the MPR/DPR Building on Monday, August 16, 2021. In the 15-minute speech, President Jokowi mentioned many things related to Indonesia's current economic situation, which currently is experiencing the impact of the recession, crisis, and pandemic that hit the nation.

Furthermore, even though Indonesia's economic situation is entering the recovery phase, Jokowi is targeting an investment of Rp99 trillion by the end of 2021 to be achieved.

"We hope that the additional investment in the months ahead will be able to meet the Rp900 trillion target, as well as create new jobs and progress the economy more significantly," said Jokowi at the 76th Indonesian Independence Day at the MPR/DPR Building on Monday, August 16, 2021.

According to Jokowi, in the first quarter period of 2021 (January-June), Indonesia's investment realization, excluding the upstream oil and gas sector and financial services, reached at least Rp442.8 trillion, with 11 details of 51.5% outside Java, and 48. 5% in Java. This investment absorbs more than 620 thousand Indonesian workers.

Jokowi added that investment development must be an integrated part of inclusive and equitable economic growth. Increasing the MSMEs class of entrepreneurs is the main agenda. According to him, various facilities are prepared to grow MSMEs, including strategic partnerships with large companies, so that they can quickly enter the global supply chain.

"This is expected to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs products, as well as increase equity and economic independence of the community," he said.

He said that the investment and collaboration ecosystem in the business world is also intended to strengthen the development of an innovation and technology-based economy, especially towards a sustainable Green Economy and Blue Economy.

"We continue to strive for the development of the food sector to build food self-sufficiency. Transformation towards new and renewable energy, as well as economic acceleration based on green technology, will be an important change in our economy," he said.

According to him, consolidation of the national research strength continues to be pursued so that it is in line with the national development agenda. The synergy between the world of education and industry and the development of entrepreneurship continues to be expedited through the Independent Learning Program.

"This is expected to accelerate the quality of national human resources, and at the same time increase the competitiveness of domestic industries and products," he added.
